You have heard of guide dogs, now get ready for Britain’s first “guide horse”.

Digby, a six-week-old American miniature horse, is being trained by his owner, Katy Smith, to lead those with visual impairments and to help with household chores, just like a guide dog.

He will grow no bigger than a large dog and — Smith insists — can be house-trained “up to a point”. Her other horses are already house-trained for care-home visits lasting two hours.
