After eight years as head of the Berlin bureau of the International News Service, Pierre Huss put together this collection of carefully written portraits of Hitler, Goering, Goebbels, Hess, and many other Nazi leaders based on his in-person interviews going back as far as 1935. In fact, Huss was the first journalist to interview Hitler after he assumed power and he interviewed Hitler again just a month before Germany declared war on America. Huss's deep understanding of Germany combined with his flawless observation skills make this an essential book for any World War II scholar trying to understand the characters of the men who led Germany and its people to Nazi ruin.
