The need to accelerate funding into emerging markets has never been more critical.
I’ve had the pleasure of engaging with esteemed leaders Marc-Andre Blanchard, Executive Vice-President and Head of CDPQ Global and Global Head of Sustainability, Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ), Elizabeth Seeger, Board Member of the International Sustainability Standards Board, IFRS Foundation and Thomas Eveson, Vice President, Global Sustainable Finance, Morningstar Sustainalytics, Nancy Lee, Director, Sustainable Development Finance of Center for Global Development and Arsalan Mahtafar, Head of J.P. Morgan Finance Institution.
In a compelling discussion, we delved into the transformative Impact Disclosure Guidance – a framework that enhances how we assess and report our contributions to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with the aim of reducing gaps. I am thrilled to share that DP World is the first company to pilot the Sustainable Development Impact Disclosure (SDID) under the Impact Disclosure Guidance.
The initiative is about more than just accountability; it’s about actionable change. By adhering to this guidance, we are not only tracking but also significantly mitigating our environmental and social impacts at a local level - a responsibility we take seriously as a business operating in over 74 countries. We are actively working to contribute to SDGs focused on health, education, equality and economic impact growth through emerging markets infrastructure.
Our implementation of the Impact Disclosure Guidance is already underway in India and Somaliland, with plans to expand these efforts across other markets and regions. Our aim is bold yet clear - to magnify our impact in the Global South, driving sustainable growth and prosperity in areas where our investment makes a meaningful difference.
As we navigate this journey, we are not alone. Each step is taken in partnership with the communities we serve, ensuring that as we strive to meet our goals, we also uplift the markets and people connected to our operations. I look forward to leveraging our global presence and innovative practices to foster lasting, positive change.
