Abstract
A wind turbine rotor blade extension portion (30) configured to be connectable to a rotor blade (10) is provided. The extension portion (39) comprises a permanent framework (180), having one or more chord-wise members (190) and a substantially span-wise member (200). A membrane (120,130) is located over the framework to thereby generate a streamlined surface. The extension portion (30) is configured to transmit aerodynamic loads from the membrane, along the chord-wise members to a rotor blade to which the extension portion is connected, in use.
