IMPROVEMENT IN BALE-TIES.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 175,71 l, dated April 4, 1876; application led v March 18, 1876.

To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, AUGUSTUS KILMER, of Howes Gave, in the county of Sohoharie and State of New York, have invented a new and valuable Improvement in Bale-Ties 5 and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construetion and operation of the same, reference being` had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this speoitication, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon.

Figure 1 of the drawings is a representation of a plan view of my bale-tie, and Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the same. Fig. 3 is a per- 'speetive view of my bale-tie.

The nature of my invention consists in a baling-Wire having its ends twisted and bent to form ay tie or look for the same, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.

In the annexed drawing, A represents a balingavire of suitable thickness, having one end doubled and twisted, forming an eye .or loop, B, as shown. The other end of the wire is also doubled and twisted to form a similar loop, C; but the end of the wire in this ease is returned to the eye or loop O, and forms a hook, D.

When the Wire A has been drawn around the bale the eye or loop B is passed from underneath up throughv the loop C far enough to pass the hook D through the projecting part of the loop B. The tension of the bale on the wire prevents the hook D trom coming,` out,
