Look out -- Change.org isn't what it seems.  Jenanne H. - Oct 26, 2012 - Report this comment

"Under certain conditions[22] signatures and other private information including email addresses and can be found by search engines. Change.org operates a system for signature hiding, which works only if the user has an account on Change.org, but[23] it does not work if the signature was forged or appears on another site operated by Change.org, PetitionOnline. That has drawn heavy criticism from (unintended) users, as in addition even multiple support requests on both the Change.org and PetitionOnline helpdesks are answered with great delay, if at all. Any support on PetitionOnline seems to have ended. "There has been debate and criticism[24][25]around the fact that Change.org is a for-profit business rather than an actual organization (expected users of '.org' domains). The site has been accused of fooling their users, advertising as an organization while hiding the fact that they are 'a for-profit entity that has an economic incentive to get people to sign petitions.' "Change.org is being deliberately deceitful through the use of the change.org name. I'd suspect that the average change.org user does not know that Change.org is a for-profit corporation, and that the corporation plans on using the contact information being provided to them to earn revenue." —Clay Johnson, [25] "Change.org has also been accused of selling the personal data provided by the users to third-party companies that hire their services, gaining money at the expense of the users.[25]" from Wikipedia, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Change.org

Top Story Only Changes Weekly   - James Waechter - Apr 10, 2012 - Report this comment

Like the title says, the lead story - whatever it is - only changes about once a week (if we're lucky). It said Tebow was deciding between the Jets and Jags for a week after he'd been traded to the Jets. I forget what the stupid headline before that was. Now, as Dave Zane says, I'm reminded every time I look at my iGoogle page, that Chris Paul and Kobe Bryant were teammates. I DON'T CARE!!! Come on, ESPN, fix the d@m% glitch.
